Berkeley, is situated on the east shore of the San Francisco bay in Alameda County, with a population of approximately 122,000 and consists of 35 neighborhoods, Berkeley is the 52nd largest community in California.

 

Well known for its progressive and liberal culture, political activism and as the birthplace of the 1960s Free Speech Movement. Berkeley, is home to the University of California, Berkeley, and its iconic Sather Tower, better known as the Campanile. UC Berkeley is recognized as one of the top, prestigious public universities in the country, particularly in fields such as science, engineering, social sciences, and humanities.

 

Berkeley has a vibrant art and cultural scene, the open air Greek Theatre, which headlines both smaller and major artists alike, is amongst the numerous music venues, theatres and art galleries.  Clustered on and near Telegraph Avenue, south of the University, you will find a plethora of cafes, restaurants, shops and even music stores.

 

Speaking of restaurants, in North Berkeley lies the cities, infamous and vibrant, Gourmet Ghetto; a humble neighborhood, boasting global culinary accolades. Famed as as the birthplace of the farm-to-table movement and the Chez Panisse restaurant, founded by renowned chef Alice Waters.

This eclectic city values intellectual curiosity and cultural diversity, it offers a blend of academic excellence, artistic expression, and natural beauty, making it an appealing place to live.

Many of the homes in Berkeley were constructed prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic cities in the country.
